The Craving of My Soul

I want to be sought after.
Pursue me
I want to be loved.
Spend time with me
I want to be heard.
Listen to me

RELATIONSHIP
I want relationship, fellowship, communion.
It is the craving of my soul.

It was there.  In the Garden long ago.
God loved his creation.
He desired to spend time with them.
He sought them out.
He talked with them in the cool of the day.

It was a time of holy communion.
It was sweet fellowship.
It was the relationship that God desired.

RELATIONSHIP
It was the intent of their God.
It was the reason man was created.

But it was broken.
The relationship.
The fellowship.
The sweet communion.

SIN
It severed.
It destroyed.
It killed.

And this is the struggle of life.

A craving for relationship.
And sin that separates.
Sin that tells me lies.
Sin that whispers, "You will not surely die."

Instead of chasing my Maker.
Instead of filling up on Him.
I fill my belly with forbidden fruit...
Relationships
Possessions
Entertainment
Money
Food
I fill up.
I gorge myself.
My appetite has no bounds.

Yet I walk away.

Empty.

Sin
THE CURSE

But in the curse
I was not forgotten.
Though separated from my God
He offered hope.

HOPE
Hope of One who would crush Satan.
Hope of One who would empower me to break Satan's grip.
Hope in the resurrection of Christ.

Death conquered
Sin overcome
Darkness dispelled
Victory won
"Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting?  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God!  He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (I Cor. 15:55-57)
The Hope.
The Promise in the curse kept.

"He will crush your head."
The Curse on Satan comes full circle.
Crushed through Jesus.

"And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet." (Rom. 16:20)

Power to break free.
Power to renew relationship.
Power to live new life.
It is mine!

RELATIONSHIP
It is the craving of my soul.
It is the craving of my God.

He whispers...
I have pursued you with a steadfast love.
I love you with an everlasting love.
I hear you with my faithful heart of love.

RELATIONSHIP
It is mine.
Fill me up, Lord

You are the craving of my soul.
